The David Sedaris Interview

In June 2013 I spoke to David Sedaris by phone from his hotel room in Toronto where he had been promoting his most recent book Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls.

It is a great conversation and David is as warm, generous, and humorous and I had imagined he would be from reading his books.

sadmagI’m a huge fan of his books and have been since I picked up a copy of Naked because I saw a cute door girl reading it and ignoring me one night many years ago at the much lamented Sugar Refinery on Granville Street in downtown Vancouver. I think that was the night that some friends and I got to see an amazing U.S. Maple show there.

But whatever. Great writing. Funnier than most.

I am proud that this interview also appears in written form in the most recent issue of Sad Mag, Quarterly Conversation about Arts & Culture. It was transcribed by the amazing Michelle Reid.

Thanks for listening.
